Graduated from the Warsaw University (Dep. Of Journalism, MA Specialization in International Relations). He began his career in 1957 at the Życie Warszawy daily as a reporter. During the Warsaw Block intervention to Czechoslovakia in 1968 he worked as a foreign correspondent, and later as an editor of the Science and Technology section. He did post graduate work in Socials Sciences and Political Sciences as a Ford Foundation grantee at Cornell University and Stanford University. During 1977 and 1978 he was the first Polish Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.

Previously program director for ZNAK Foundation in Krakow and the editor of “Tygodnik Powszechny”. As a journalist, he covered the Romanian Revolution and war in the former Yugoslavia. Author of two documentary books on the Balkans and a novel Scent of the Angel which is based on his work experience in the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

In 1995-1996 worked at the Polish Institute in Hungary as a translator and project coordinator. Currently, she is terminating her PhD thesis on Polish literature at the University of Debrecen, Hungary.

Winner of the Ksawery and Mieczysław Pruszyński Foundation Award, of the Bocheński Award, and numerous awards of the Polish Journalists Association. Journalist of the Year 2002 – Grand Press.
