Csaba G. Kiss

Csaba G. Kiss

 

A cultural and literary historian; an essayist and a researcher on Central European cultures; studied Hungarian and German and comparative literature of Eastern Europe (comparing similarities between Polish and Hungarian literature). Hungarian opposition activist (Hungarian Democratic Forum) in the years 1987-1990. In 1992-1995 Director of the Institute of Central Europe in Budapest. Since 1995 scholar at the ELTE University in Budapest. 1994-2004 Visiting Professor in Zagreb. Author of several books on Central European literary and political matters published in France, Germany, Slovakia, Croatia and Poland. His book Dziennik polski (1980-1982) was translated and published in Poland.

 

Jacek Klich

 

He holds PhD in both economics and political science. Currently an assistant professor at the Business School of the Jagiellonian University and the director of the Institute for Strategic Studies. During the 1990s he has worked on several projects on Polish privatization policies from an economic viewpoint and has published dozens of articles on the subject. He has also written articles on privatization in healthcare and healthcare policy and still teaches courses on this subject.

Szymon Konop

He holds an MSc degree in Management from the University of Mining and Metallurgy in Cracow, Poland's leading technical university and a BA in Marketing from the BWSBiI - US Peace Corps funded private college. His professional experience includes managing FMCG brands and B2B marketing in Central Europe, CIS and the Far East. Prior to working for PMR he spent a few years working with leading Polish food and beverage manufacturers. He has joined PMR in 2003 and since that time has been promoted to Senior Consultant and the Head of Consulting Services responsible for further development of PMR offer in the advisory field. The most important of the projects he has managed included reports on construction, retail sector and market entry for specialised products and services. He is also active as a guest lecturer at the Cracow University of Economics. Except of his native Polish he speaks also English and Russian.

Head of the Department for the History of Post-Communist Transition (from 2003 to present) in the Institute of Contemporary History at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague. Fulbright Scholar-in-residence, Endicott College, Beverly, MA, USA (2005-2006). Ph.D. degree, Russian and Eastern European Studies, Institute of International Area Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague. Dissertation title: ‘In Quest of the Revolution’s Lost Meaning. Marxist Revisionism in Central Europe 1953-1960.’ (5/2005). Academic Fields: Modern intellectual history in Central Europe, Communism and transition studies, history of historiography.

Bedřich Kopecký

 

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Poland (2002 - 2008). PhD degree of law at the Charles's Uniwersity in Praha. He works in diplomacy since 1977. 2000 - 2002 Director of the Central Europe Department at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Krzysztof Kopytko

The first secretary of the deparment of institutional and legal issues of the Polish Permanent Representation to the European Union on Brussels. Former director of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland.

Michal Kořan

Michal Kořan

Deputy Director in Institute of International Relations, Prague, former Head of Research. Received his PhD in 2008 at the Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic). In 2012 a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. He mainly focuses on foreign policy analysis of the Central European countries, Central European sub-regional cooperation and Central Europe in European and World Affairs. He is the lead-author of an annual book analyzing Czech foreign policy and a main coordinator of the Strategic Grant of the International Visegrad Fund “The Visegrad Group in the Post-Lisbon EU: Getting Closer to Move Further”. Program chair of annual “International Symposium on Czech Foreign Policy”. His texts has been published, among others, in journals European Security, Osteuropa, Perspectives, Journal of International Relations and Development and by publishing houses Palgrave and Routledge.

Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the president of the Republic of Poland (in charge of social and cultural affairs). Active in politics since 1968, cooperated with KOR (Comitee for the Defence of Workers), active in the "Solidarity" Union. Co-founder of the ROAD (Civic Movement - Democratic Action), Democratic Union, Union for Freedom. Since June 1989, deputy to the Sejm, head of the Parliamentary Group of Women. President of the "No Dogma Association for Law and Freedom" and member of the Programme Council of the Foundation for Promotion of the European Law.  

Zdzislaw Mach

Zdzislaw Mach

Professor in sociology and anthropology at the Jagiellonian University. Founder and head of the Institute for European Studies at the Jagiellonian University, and one of the main authors of the European Studies curriculum in Poland. He has broad international teaching experience from Europe and America. Previous teaching and research appointments include Université Montpellier IIII Paul Valéry, University of Exeter, University College Dublin, University of Chicago, Oxford University, University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study, the American Council of Learned Societies, University of Edinburgh and St. John's College, Oxford. His research interests cover identity issues such as nationalism, minorities and ethnicity, the development of European citizenship, migration and the reconstruction of identity, the ethnic origin of a nation and construction of identities as well as the development of the idea of Europe.
