Zoltán Gál

MA in Central European Studies at the Central European University, Budapest in 1994. PhD in Economic Geography at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1998. Research fields include Regional Economics, Regional Economics of Finance, Financial Geography, Regional Innovation Policy, Innovation Systems, Co-operation in the Central Europe in the field of innovation, Financial Sector Development in the Eastern and Central Europe and Economic History. Senior research fellow at the Centre for Regional Studies, HAS, the Transdanubian Research Institute, and Associate Professor at the University of Kaposvár, Faculty of Economics, Department of Regional Economics.2003-2004expert at the Regional Foresight Unit at the DG Research of the European Commission, Brussels. 2001-2004 senior manager of the Regional Innovation Strategy for the South Transdanuabian region.  

Jakub Groszkowski

Central European analyst at the Warsaw-based Center for Eastern Studies. Author of numerous analyses on foreign and domestic policy of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. His expertise covers political scene in both countries, energy security and regional cooperation in Central Europe. He is also a member of the Polish-Czech/Czech-Polish analytical platform. Graduated in Political Science and Central European Studies from University of Warsaw. Before joining Center for Eastern Studies he worked as a journalist at Polish Radio in Warsaw.

Mihaly Györ

Mihaly Györ

Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Poland. Graduated in economics (international economic relations) from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Since 1975 he has worked in the ministries responsible for foreign trade and economic cooperation. From 1988 to 1994 served as a commercial counsellor at the Hungarian Embassy in Warsaw. Between 1994-2000 Head of Departments in the Ministry of Industry and Trade (later Ministry of Economy) responsible for the economic cooperation with Central and East European countries. In 2000-2002 he continued his career performing the same duties as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was awarded the “Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland” in 1996.

 

Ivan Horský

 

Since 2005 Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Krakow. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the Comenius University in Bratislava. In 1999 worked for the Ministra of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic. In the years 2000-2004 Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Bonn, Germany. In 2004 held the office of the Director of the Press and Communication Department.

Jakob Hurrle

Currently he coordinates the programme development of the organization and supervises the Diversity Management seminars. He became the executive director of the Multicultural Centre Prague in February 2007 and currently he coordinates the programme development of the organisation and supervises the Diversity Management seminars. He is also a member of the editorial board of Migration Online. Since 2002, a fellow at Humanity in Action and Polish country monitor for the European Roma Right Centre in Budapest . He obtained his MSC in Urban and Regional Planning at Berlin Technical University after study and research visits in Warsaw, New York and Slovakia. His thesis evaluated Roma-targeting development projects in rural Eastern Slovak communities. As a guest scholar at the Graduate Center of the City University New York, he also conducted research on the Polish-Jewish emigration of 1968. He is publisher of PLOTKI, a Czech-Polish-German student magazine since 2000. In the year 2000 he took Internship at the Department for Strategic City Development in Prague and in a NGO which lobbies against urban sprawl in Central and Eastern Europe.

Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka

Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka

Since 2006 Undersecretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. She is dealing with issues connected with the Polish-Jewish relations. She graduated from the Law Department and did post-graduate journalistic studies at Warsaw University. She worked as a journalist and editor-in-chief of the “Dziennik Polski” daily in Detroit. She also was a member of the Dialogue group. In 2001 she was nominated for the director for the development of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. She is a member of the „Otwarta Rzeczpospolita” Association, of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute and of the Association of Polish Journalists. Author of a book about Pope John Paul II A Man Among Us, she published in Kultura and Tygodnik Powszechny.

Éva Karádi

Éva Karádi

Editor in chief of Magyar Lettre Internationale, Hungarian edition of the European cultural quarterly since 1995, one of editors since 1991, chair of the Hungarian National Committee of the European Cultural Foundation since 1998, one of the coordinators of the cooperation of the leading daily newspapers of the Visegrad countries in editing a common Central European Supplement from 1994 on. In these fields organized many European and regional events, like: Revolutions and Restaurations (1992), Intellectuals between Morals and Politics (1996), Samizdat (2000) and Joining the Club: The Central-European countries in the period of the referenda (2003) etc. Éva Karádi has a PhD in Philosophy and teaches philosophy since 1969 at the Eotvos University Budapest.

Bernd Karwen

Bernd Karwen

Born in w Elmshorn. Studied Polish Language, Political Sciences and German as a Foreign Language at the University of Leipzig. Since 1999 has worked in the Polish Institute in Leipzig, where he is responsible for promoting Polish literature. Since 2001 PhD student at the University of Leipzig, also works as a translator.
