Model V4+ at Prague Student Summit – apply!

 

V4+ Model - Model of the Visegrad Group - is a week-long MUN-type project taking place within the Prague Student Summit in the city of Prague. Five university students from each represented country – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Austria and Germany – will gather to discover the decision-making processes of the Visegrad Group. These 30 students will step into roles of real diplomats in an extensive simulation of negotiations and discuss current European issues representing perspectives of their countries.

Thanks to this program, they will understand better not only the issues discussed but will also meet colleagues from different countries, share their experience and enhance their own capabilities such as rhetoric, presentation and argumentation skills.

The participants will be chosen in an application process starting in February and ending on 6th March 2016.

 

Application Deadline

Deadline for the application is March 6 th , 2016. Make sure you will complete the whole process until this date through the online application system of the Prague Student Summit – www.isbadge.cz.

 

Formal Requirements

  • In order to be eligible for the selection, each applicant has to be a citizen of one of the participating countries (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Germany or Austria).
  • Each applicant has to be a student of Bachelor or Master University program.
  • The application has to be duly filled in including all contact details, submitting the essay and letter of motivation.
  • Application including all the supporting documents must be submitted in English language only.

 

Particular Parts of the Application

  • The application consists of two parts which will be anonymized and then evaluated by the organizers of Model V4+. These are the opinion essay and letter of motivation.
  • Essay (max. 30 points)
  • Each applicant is supposed to submit a brief opinion essay of maximum 3600 characters (including spaces). Sources are mandatory and shall be stated at the separated box, therefore sources used for the essay are not counted into the total limit of characters. Topic of the essay is chosen by the organizers and stated below. As number of characters is relatively limited, please be accurate, brief and clear in your message. It is highly recommended to double check your writing before the submission. This could save you some points. The organizers will rate the essays based on following criteria:

Meeting the Instructions

Our objective is not to make you create or invent any professional outputs, your goal should  be  to  study  the  subject  in  order  to  determine  your  own  personal  judgment about the particular matter and try to substantiate it.

Factual Accuracy 

All the essays must be elaborated according to the real contemporary situation and  supported by actual events or expert predictions; the facts stated in the essays are  going to be verified.

Grammar and Stylistics

You  must  write  in  an  appropriate  style,  use  grammatically  correct  sentences  with accurate spelling and punctuation in a style appropriate to the topic and situation. 

Originality and Creativity

In order to make your essay stand out, focus as well onto the uniqueness of the text within reach of fulfillment of the requirements set in the definition of the topic. In your opinion essay please elaborate on the following topic: “The Role of Central European Cooperation in the Face of Present Challenges”

 

Letter of Motivation (max. 10 points)

Each applicant shall submit a short motivation letter of maximum 1000 characters (including spaces). You should clearly explain why you want to attend the program, what do you expect from it and how you could contribute to the event. Long story short - why the organizers should pick you from all the applicants. Try to be original and creative but to the point!

 

Procedure in case of equality of score

If more than one application receives the same amount of points, the applicant with higher score from the essay will be given preference. In case of impossibility of decision by previously mentioned mean, the decision will be made through draw.

 

Results

The  results  of  the  application  process  will  be published  on  the  webpage  of  Prague Student Summit by March 10 th , 2016 at latest. We wish you the best of luck with your application!
