22. Visegrad Summer School - Future of Media

Lectures of the Third Day of VSS

On the third day of Visegrad Summer School, we kicked off with a thought-provoking lecture by Beata Balgová, Editor-in-Chief of SME. Making her debut at the Summer School, Balgová delved into the indispensable role of media in upholding democratic accountability and the mulitfaceted strategies autocrats employ to undermine this role. She highlighted the struggle to engage younger audiences with traditional media and emphasized the importance of investigative journalism, citing landmark investigations like Watergate and Panama Papers.

The students gave their final group presentations and received their participation certificates for their work from the Director.

Lectures of the Second Day of VSS

During the second day of the Visegrad Summer School, participants engaged several experts in lively discussions about several crucial topics, including the European Union’s approach to digital media and cooperation and debate in the Balkans.

The Inauguration Ceremony and The First Day of VSS 2024

The morning of the 22nd Visegrad Summer School began with inspired opening remarks from Director of the Villa Decius, Dominika Kasprowicz who welcomed all the guests and participants to the official opening of the Summer School.
