Gürkan Özturan works as the Media Freedom Monitoring Officer of Media Freedom Rapid Response, at the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom in Germany's Leipzig. Özturan was trained in the field of European Studies as a researcher on radicalisation and polarisation during his masters degrees at Centre International de Formation Europeenne and Istanbul Bilgi University. Özturan previously worked as a journalist and executive manager at dokuz8NEWS and frequently appeared on international media as commentator on Turkey and digital rights and liberties.

Attila Mong is CPJ's Berlin-based Europe representative. A freelance journalist and a consultant for German media development organization DW Akademie, he is also a supervisory board member of atlatszo.hu, a crowdfunded investigative journalism platform in his native Hungary. Mong has worked as an investigative journalist, radio broadcaster, and columnist for 20 years. In 2013, he completed a John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University, a program focused on leadership and innovation in journalism.

Beata Balogová is editor-in-chief of the SME daily newspaper [2], one of the major independent dailies in the Slovak Republic. She joined SME in 2014, having previously been editor of Slovakia's English-language weekly The Slovak Spectator from 2003 to 2014. Beata was a Fulbright scholar of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri, Columbia and she also holds a master's degree in journalism from the School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York.

Vuk Uskoković comes from Belgrade, Serbia. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, majoring in Journalism. He has completed specialist studies in Television and Multimedia Journalism at the University of Oklahoma, USA. Vuk has more than 20 years of experience in all types of media outlets - press, radio, online, news agency, and television. While being a reporter, he covered stories ranging from politics, economy, education, healthcare, energetics, and foreign affairs. Reporting live from Europe and Asia, Vuk also did numerous interviews with ministers and ambassadors.
