Science to business
Today’s VSS workshops started from the meeting with Karol Szyndzielorz who is currently the advisor of the Executive Board of Simens Polska. He began his professional career as a daily reporter in „Życie Warszawy”, he also worked as a foreign correspondent. He was an observer of many important historical moments like 1968 in Prague or the Round Table debates in Warsaw in 1989. He worked for global companies like Zasada (Mercedes Polska), Media Group in 1996. We also had an opportunity to discuss with our guest such actual topics like education providing innovation in modern societies, new tendencies in green technologies. He underlined that „Skills of skilled people worth more than money”.
Session of the Business Lab
Labs in Business lead by Aleksandra Przegalińska are focused on startups in the era of virtual reality. During the Business Lab we are discussing new tendencies in Web 2.0 based ventures, we do a lot of desk research and case studies of growing startups like Affectiva, smart jewellery, Airbnb, Tinder, Zopa, Roomorama, Rent a Friend ventures and discuss their impact on modern societies. In a groups we are preparing complete and coherent business models based on sharing economy concepts. We are discussing how to run an innovative and profitable business in the era of globalization, unification of the knowledge and free redistribution of goods and ideas according to so called sharing economy. Today we focused on the topic of collaborative consumption and quite new trends e.g. peer-to-peer travelling, car-sharing or even friend-sharing. We were discussing advantages and disadvantages of using new technologies in our lifetime. We ended with quite surprising idea that maybe we are the society of (free) trials – we share a couch, a car, than a friend or a puppet, than... What is the future of our new business? Our poor imagination is our only limitation.
