Central Europe fit for the future - report by the High-Level Reflection Group

Report presented by Central European Policy Institute in Bratislava and demosEUROPA - Centre for European Strategy in Warsaw. Central Europe is one of the European Union’s most astounding success stories. Ten years after accession, the region speaks confidently for itself in Europe and internationally. The combined GDP of the four Visegrád Group countries already makes them the world’s 15th-biggest economy. However, Central Europe’s second decade in the EU requires a new level of ambition. The region needs a refashioned growth model, focused on enhancing competitiveness and innovation. It has to overcome problems with connectivity and improve cross-border infrastructure. It also needs to pursue an activist agenda within the EU with a focus on growth, reform of the community institutions and a robust enlargement and neighbourhood policy.
