VSS Future Lab | Team 5

How might we increase citizen engagement to overcome political apathy and build a stronger, more resilient Europe?

Kristine, Adam, Pavel, Antoni, Barbara, Matej, and Daniela closed the series by confronting a crucial challenge: declining civic engagement and rising democratic fatigue. Their scenario explored how disengaged societies become more vulnerable to propaganda and authoritarianism, and how renewed citizen participation could be the antidote.

Among their ideas:
  •  Media literacy programs and digital currency-based awards for impactful civic actions
  •  An “Erasmus++” program for the 60+ generation - fostering inclusion, intergenerational dialogue, and a deeper European identity
  •  Training workshops to help local initiatives and student groups better access EU grants and funding
Their vision? A more connected, civically empowered Europe - one that starts with local change and grows stronger with every engaged voice.
