From Reflection to Foresight: VSS Enters Its Creative Phase

On July 7th, the 23rd Visegrad Summer School entered a new chapter - the VSS Future Laboratory. After days filled with expert-led lectures and high-level debate, it was time to shift gears: from absorbing knowledge to producing new ideas.

Led by Agata Bisping and Marcin Maciejewski, participants were introduced to the methodology of Futures Literacy - a skillset that helps individuals and communities imagine, design, and act for better futures.

Working in five interdisciplinary groups, participants examined trends, risks, and uncertainties tied to the core theme: The Future of Enlargement. Through interactive methods like context-mapping, future wheels, and creative visual tasks, they explored how societal, political, and technological forces might shape the next era of European cooperation.

The day also focused on group collaboration: building shared visions, navigating ambiguity, and setting the foundations for the group presentations to come.

These workshops are just the beginning. In the coming days, each group will continue refining their concepts, turning reflection into strategy, and insight into action.

The future isn’t something we wait for, it’s something we prototype. And this team? They’re already building it.
